Swallows Kantha Kit

Description

This Swallows Kantha Kit is the first of my premium range.  This kit features three swooping swallows stitched onto white cotton fabric with hand dyed threads. It contains all the thread, fabric, full size A3 pattern, stitch leaflet and instructions to make a design comprising of three different sized dark blue swallows. These are surrounded by a traditional kantha border in a beautiful gold thread. The kit comes beautifully packaged in a brown A4 box with labels front and back showing the stitched kit and contents.

The kit uses the techniques of Kantha stitching, a technique that originated in India. This hand sewing kit uses the same techniques used hundreds of years ago; using a running stitch to create the three swallow design. It is a very relaxing technique as once the design is marked onto the fabric you do not have to refer to the pattern. Full written instructions and illustrated stitch diagrams mean that this kit is accessible to a wide range of people. The kits contains everything needed except for tacking thread and a marking pen. The three swallows are stitched in size order, the outline of each is stitched first in running stitch and then infilled with more rows of running stitches. There is a traditional curved pattern border around the design and then the swallows can be echo stitched to complete the inner area.
