Online Zoom Workshops For Groups

Angela is an experienced and accomplished teacher who is adept at managing a range of levels of abilities within a group online. These workshops can be adapted to suit group needs and all are suitable for group members to work on a project in their own homes. Workshops can take place from between 60 minutes to 180 minutes. Angela is also very flexible and times can be arranged for different time zones across the world.


A requirement list will be sent to the booking secretary upon booking however there is the option to have a full workshop pack sent out to every member. This is different for each workshop and will include postage and packing.

Kwandi quilt Making – NEW


Kwandi quilt making is a hand stitching technique that originated in India hundreds of years ago. Traditionally made by women they were made from small pieces of old and worn out sari fabrics stitched onto a backing fabric. Through stitch tiny fabric patches would be transformed into something beautiful and practical. The running stitch used to join these fabrics together is just as important as the colourful patches of fabric. In this new workshop you will learn about Kwandi patchwork, how to prepare the patches and stitch them down, the history and stitch a either a six inch square (60 minutes workshop) or an A4 size mini quilt. The techniques you will learn can easily be transferred if you want to use this technique for a larger project.

Tulle Kantha Moon Hare – NEW


Kantha is a 500 year old stitching technique that originated in India 500 years ago. It was originally a thrift craft as women would stitch into used saris to recycled them into practical and decorative items. It is recognised for only using the running stitch which is used to create patterns and representational images. In this new workshop you will stitch the hare over tulle which will give a lovely added texture to your stitching. You will also combine your stitching with using fabric paint to create a golden moon. This workshop pack has the option for you to stitch onto Angela’s naturally madder root hand dyed cotton fabric.

Kantha: Modern Art, Ancient stitch – NEW


Kantha is a 500 year old stitching technique that originated in India 500 years ago. It was originally a thrift craft as women would stitch into used saris to recycled them into practical and decorative items. It is recognised for only using the running stitch which is used to create patterns and representational images. In this new workshop you will fuse the running stitch with geometric shapes cut from tulle to create your very own modern art piece. You will learn how to mark out your work, how to cut and trim the tulle along with tips for making the running stitch the star of your piece. You can choose to work with squares, rectangles or circles as a design.

Slow, Slow, Stitch, Stitch Slow


In this workshop you will combine different textures and colours of fabrics to create a background ready for stitching. This workshop is all about learning how therapeutic and relaxing hand stitching can be whilst creating your very own masterpiece. You will combine traditional Kantha stitching alongside Japanese boro stitch with a sprinkling of embroidery stitches thrown into the mix. The combinations that cottons, silks and linens with varying thicknesses of threads will give endless design possibilities. You will be sent a pattern sheet to use which will include one of Angela’s iconic hares but you can of course follow your own ideas.

Kantha Dragonfly


Kantha is hand stitching workshop that is over 500 years old. In this workshop you will learn about the history of kantha and how it uses just one stitch, the running stitch to create representational images. You will learn how to transfer a pattern and pick up tips for working with different materials. Aligned running stitches are used to create the body of the dragon fly whilst whipped running stitch is used for the wings. Tips will be given for background stitching.

Travelling Workshops For Groups

Angela is an experienced and accomplished teacher who is adept at managing a range of levels of abilities within a group. These workshops can be adapted to suit group needs and different environments. Most can be made to fit a full day or half day workshop.


A requirement list will be sent to you upon booking however there is an optional workshop pack for your members. Some workshops might also have a small extra materials charge per person, for example for fabric paint.

Kantha Cow Parsley With Printed Border

In this workshop you will combine the technique of kantha stitching and Indian wooden block printing. You will begin by learning how to mask out an area of fabric and pick up techniques for successful block printing. Angela will bring fabric paints and guide you through how to create a printed outer border using her wooden block stamps before learning how to transfer the beautiful cow parsley design into the centre. You will learn how to layer up your work and then how to start stitching. Angela will show you how to use different types of running stitch to make your stitching come alive. This workshop is suitable for all levels of stitchers.

Kantha Journal

In this relaxing hand stitching workshop you will learn about Kantha work and how to use this technique to stitch your personal memories into a fabric journal. Kantha uses many variations of running stitch to create representational images and texture within your stitching. It is a technique suitable for all levels. In the workshop Angela will help you to plan out your journal and you will start to stitch into two of pages of your fabric journal in the workshop. Every journal will be unique and individual as it will help to tell your story. This could be to celebrate a special holiday, family event or precious family memories. The workshop will teach you about how to add a variety of fabric pockets onto your pages to keep photos or tickets in. Finally you will learn about how to stitch all of you pages together to complete your fabric journal.

Kantha Moon Gazing Hare

The moon gazing hare is an iconic symbol which is almost universal. There is a history of hares being linked to the moon which has come to symbolise creativity, fertility, new beginnings and good fortune.

In this day workshop, Angela will teach you how to stitch this most magical of images. You will learn all about how wonderfully relaxing Kantha work is, and that size does not matter when you stitch; consistency of stitch is much more important. You will be guided through how to transfer a design from a paper pattern to dark fabric and how to layer up your work with something soft like cotton muslin underneath it. Tips will be given about the best ways to start and stop your stitching and which needles and threads work well. You will learn about stitching and infilling representational shapes and many variations of running stitch, you will also learn about stitching in the round and keeping your work flat.

Included in this workshop is the option to have a fabric painted moon and you will learn how you can give your completed stitched hare a three dimensional appearance.

Kantha Table Runner

Spend a relaxing day learning all about kantha and begin to create your very own table runner. You will be able to choose between two different patterns; an iconic hare stitched with hare bells or beautiful blooms. Angela will guide you through marking out your pattern and how to layer up your work. You will learn about how to use different types of running stitches and how to infill representational shapes. Full instructions will be given about how you can complete your table runner.

Kantha Printed Hare

During this workshop you will combine the centuries old technique of Indian wooden block printing and kantha stitching. You will learn how to make a stencil of a hare (A3 size) and how to mask out an area before using fabric paints and wooden printing blocks to print inside the design onto white cotton fabric. Lots of tips will be given for precise printing. One your printed design is dry the hare will be layered up ready for stitching. You will learn about many different variations of running stitches and how the thread you use can give texture and perspective to your work. Angela will also reach you about how to add a border to your work. This workshop is suitable for all levels of stitchers.

Kantha Running Hare

In this day workshop, Angela will teach you how to stitch one of her most popular hare designs. You will learn all about how wonderfully relaxing Kantha work is and that size does not matter, consistency of stitch is much more important. Throw away your rulers and enjoy a day learning how to cut free curves from fabric with a rotary cutter. You will learn how to stitch them together accurately by sewing machine and then stitch them into quilting blocks. You will be able to use your blocks to make a bag, table runner or as part of a quilt.

Stitching For Texture

Spend a day extending your stitching and quilting repertoire by exploring both traditional and contemporary quilting stitches to create texture and line in your work. learn how to mix hand and machine stitching for unique effect. You will go home with all your samples made into a stitched book. This workshop includes hand and machine stitching.
