Description

Hand quilting a traditional feather motif with perlé 8 thread and a chenille needle.

Hand quilting is having a big revival as more people discover how relaxing it can be and also how quickly the stitches will grow. You could hand quilt a cushion cover or a queen size bed quilt in this technique. In this workshop you hand stitch a traditional feather motif with a perlé 8 thread. You will learn about transferring a design onto cotton fabric and then how to tack three layers together ready for quilting; top cotton layer, thin wadding and backing cotton.

You will learn about which thicker threads are best for hand quilting, the best types of needles to use and how to start and finish your stitches. In the workshop you will be stitching with perlé 8 thread and using a chenille needle. Angela will give out lots of tips as you spend an enjoyable Zoom
workshop hand quilting.

The kit that you will receive through the post will have white cotton fabric, ultra thin wadding, cotton voile for the backing, variegated blue perlé 8 thread, a chenille needle, full size pattern and written instructions. You will need to provide thin tacking thread, an erasable marking pencil and a basic sewing kit.

The Zoom joining instructions will be sent to your email 48 hours before the workshop. It will be assumed that you are able to access Zoom via a table, computer or even a mobile phone.

This workshop is on 15th March, 7:00pm to 9:00pm.
