Description

In this workshop you will learn about how addictive and absorbing using a variety of leaves and petals is to colour white paper. You will begin by stitching pages of cotton rag paper made from recycled textiles together to form your own A6 sized notebook. Under guidance from Angela you will stitch lace and silk fabric into your notebook and add pockets. You will watch how to layer up your pages with leaves and petals before bundling them all together with thread.

Full instructions will be given for you to steam or boil your notebook after the workshop. NO dyeing takes place during the workshop, but you will  watch a video reveal of a dyed notebook and be taught how to remove the leaves and how to dry your notebook. You will end up with pages full of unique colour and texture. Angela will teach you how to further decorate your pages with stitch and embellishments.

The kit that you will receive through the post will include cotton rag paper, cotton lace, silk, white perlé 8 thread with a chenille needle, a 15cm stick of dowel and full written instructions. You will need to provide natural dye products such as onion skins, flower petals, leaves and have a 454g empty jam jar or an old pans for the dyeing. A list of suggested plant items will be sent out to you after you get a place on this workshop.

The Zoom joining instructions will be sent to your email 48 hours before the workshop. The Zoom workshop will not be recorded but a video tutorial will be sent to you via email 24 hours after the workshop. It will be assumed that you are able to access Zoom via a table, computer or even a mobile phone.

This workshop is on 17th March 2024, 2:30pm to 4:30pm.
